Dr. Strinden did an excellent surgery on my husband’s eye. He went from a legally blind impaired state, to 20/20 vision in both eyes. This was nothing short of miraculous!

FAQS

WILL THIS PROCEDURE PREVENT MACULAR DEGENERATION?

No, macular degeneration occurs in the retina (back of the eye). Cataract surgery deals with the lens in the front of the eye. Patients should continue to have annual eye exams with their primary eye doctor to monitor their eye health.

HOW SOON CAN I RETURN TO NORMAL ACTIVITIES AFTER  CATARACT SURGERY?

Patients are recommended to take it easy for the rest of the day after the surgery, but are free to return to normal activities as comfort allows. For the first week you should avoid rubbing or bumping the eye as well as getting it wet. Patients should also be cautious about heavy lifting or swimming in hot tubs, pools, or lakes for one month.

WHAT CAUSES THE LOSS OF NEAR VISION?

The young eye has the ability to focus up close, like the zoom function on a camera. As you age, that function becomes less and less functional - causing the loss of near vision that requires reading glasses or bifocals. Cataracts also form in the lens as the eye ages.

DOES THE EYE EVER REJECT THE LENS?

Lenses are made of an acrylic material that is inert inside the eye. The eye will not react against the lens, unlike other organic materials (glass, metal). The great news is that this allows the eye to remain clear while avoiding the degradation and color change that occurs with your natural lens.
